Aston Martin DB12 spins off an “S” version for the rich

Aston Martin has expanded its DB12 lineup with a new flagship spec called S. It comes with suspension improvements and a boosted 4.0-liter V8. Both the coupe and the convertible version are available for ordering, but the deliveries won’t start until Q1 2026.

The new Super Tourer commands 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW) and a peak torque of 800 Nm (590 lb-ft). It benefits from transmission tweaks for 50% faster shifting between gears and sprints from zero to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in 3.4 seconds – one-tenth of a second faster than the standard version. The top speed is capped at 200 mph, or 322 km/h. Aston Martin also points out much sharper throttle response.

More improvements can be found in the chassis department. Finely calibrated Bilstein DTX shocks along with stiffer sway bars should result in more precise cornering without sacrificing overall comfort. New carbon-ceramic brakes shave off 27 kilos (60 lbs) from the total unsprung weight. Opting for a titanium exhaust system lets the DB12 S shed another 11.7 kg (25.8 lbs).

Design-wise, the S version looks fresh thanks to a two-piece front splitter, a ventilated hood, new side sills and a purpose-designed rear diffuser. A fixed rear spoiler rounds off the track-ready look. The cabin gets seats with enhanced lumbar support and red trim accents. Those looking to max out their ride will want to consider the available carbon-backed bucket seats.
