Hyundai has revealed a new Bayon model, featuring a design overhaul and a hybrid engine option. The new Bayon's exterior design is reportedly inspired by the 'Art of Steel' language seen in the latest Tucson, with influences such as hockey stick-shaped daytime running lights and an elevated hood line. The model name is spelled out below the Hyundai badge on the trunk.
An N Line trim is available for the first time, offering a sporty body kit, 18-inch wheels, twin tailpipes, and N interior details. The new Bayon also features a 0.8-inch (20 mm) wheelbase stretch. Optional interior features include dual 12.3-inch screens, surround view parking cameras, ventilated seats, and a panoramic roof. Hyundai’s Digital Key 2, which allows phone-based car access, and a Bose sound system are also available.
The Bayon will offer a 1.6-liter hybrid engine for the first time, producing 136 hp (138 PS) and paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This hybrid system allows for adjustable brake regeneration. The base engine is a 1.0-liter, four-cylinder T-GDI motor with 89 horsepower (90 PS), available with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 114 hp (115 PS) version of this engine is also offered.
All Bayon models are front-wheel drive. The hybrid hardware is noted to reduce trunk space. The new Bayon is expected to arrive at European Hyundai dealerships in early 2027.
