Jetour Freedom goes electricity-free in China

Jetour has introduced the Freedom, a purely gas-powered version of the Jetour T1 hybrid crossover that went on sale in China last fall.

Customers will be choosing from two turbocharged engine options. The 1.5-liter entry-level powertrain makes 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and works with a seven-speed preselector DCT. The 2.0-liter high spec produces 254 PS (251 hp / 185 kW) and sends them to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV is front-wheel-drive by default, but those buying the 2.0-liter version may pay extra for the company’s XWD all-wheel-drive system that adds a coupling and a diff lock to the rear axle.
