Ultra-rare Lamborghini found in a barn after three decades of decay

One out of only 130 right-hand-drive Lamborghini Espada coupes produced in the 1970s was unearthed in a rural community in Great Britain.

The car had sat abandoned in a barn for at least three decades. It appears that someone hid it there, away from the prying eyes, and even parked two Vauxhall cars – a Calibra and a Cavalier – in front of it to conceal it. When the former landowner passed away, the new owner of the land paid a visit to the abandoned building and recovered the three cars.

Miraculously enough, despite having been buried under a layer of dust and debris, the Lamborghini is in a decent enough state to be restored. The body lacks signs of major damage or even corrosion, and the blue leather in the cabin has not lost its shine. Perhaps being virtually sealed in without air or direct sunlight helped the rarity survive through the ages.

The odometer shows a touch under 4,500 miles (7,200 kilometers), but there seems to be no way to find out whether the displayed value is real. The four-seat coupe is going on sale soon, and is expected to fetch a rough equivalent of U.S. $100,000.

Lamborghini produced around 1,200 Espada models in 1968–1978 (watch the video for an overview), but only around 10 percent had the right-hand-drive. Each came powered by a 4.0-liter V12 rated up to 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) in tandem with a manual transmission.
