LR Defender restomod quartet struggles with staying the same color

Upon request from a well-off private client, the Works Bespoke subdivision of Jaguar Land Rover produced a mini-collection of four classic Defender restomods including a 90 SUV, a 90 convertible, a 110 SUV, and a 110 pickup.

All four donor vehicles were made in mid-2010s. For this project, they were all repainted in an exclusive chameleon shade called Spectral Green: the hue looks different based on the light angle and your viewing position. All four ended up with a white top and a stainless-steel external cage to compensate for the classic Defender’s infamous body softness. In fact, the truck seemingly got away with just a roll bar above the bed.

The interiors were styled with semi-aniline leather colored to complement the exterior. An infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support was also installed.

Last but not least, the quartet traded its standard diesel engine for a 5.0-liter Ford-sourced V8 rated at 405 PS (400 hp / 299 kW) and 515 Nm (380 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission was tasked with delivering the momentum to the four wheels.
