Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet breaks cover in Europe

Mercedes-AMG has endowed the CLE-Class with the powerful petrol-electric system previously only available with the CLE 53 Coupe.

The new convertible commands 449 PS (443 hp / 330 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, but can get up to 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) for ten seconds via Overboost Mode. A nine-speed transmission drives all four wheels, and the chassis supports four-wheel steering.

In its standard guise, the CLE 53 Cabrio needs 4.4 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and reaches its limit at 250 km/h (155 mph). With option packs applied, the launch time goes down to 4.2 seconds and the top speed goes up to 270 km/h (167 mph).

The base trim level already includes adaptive suspension with three shock absorber presets to choose from, adjustable steering mechanism, and 11 airbags.
