U.S. automakers plead with the government to keep EV incentives alive

While Europe has gotten rid of most state subsidies on buying electric vehicles, some incentives remain active in the United States – and many are interested in keeping the status quo.

According to local market analysts, subsidies help a great deal with EV sales. For example, 118,273 EVs were sold in the USA in July this year – 18% more than the year before (100,620). Tesla reigned supreme with a 48% share in the market, or 57,134 cars sold. Fold trailed it as a very distant second with 9,504 EVs and Chevrolet landed third with 5,901 examples.

Based on these numbers, the analysts suggest keeping the incentives alive in order to keep the EV market afloat. Without them, it may plummet like it did in Europe this year.
