Shortly after Ruf announced developing a groundbreaking 4.8-liter flat-8 engine for the Porsche 911 designed to slot in between the axles, another company – Angelelli Automobili – made a similar claim.
The Italian tuner calls the vehicle “Angelelli 754”. It starts its life as a modern Porsche 911 coupe that gets stripped of the OEM bodywork in favor of all-composite body and aero. The company is targeting a curb weight as low as 1,100 kilograms, or 2,425 lbs.
Production plans exist for only 50 units. Customers will be able to order individual suspension, steering and braking system tweaks to suit their tastes. Out of this batch, 25 Porsches will retain their rear-engine/RWD layout, while the other 25 will switch to a transaxle/RWD scheme. Angelelli claims it will drastically alter the way the car handles and feels due to the more balanced per-axle distribution of weight. In both cases, engine output will be dialed close to 700-800 PS (690–789 hp; 515–588 kW).
