Rezvani Motors, a U.S.-based niche automaker best known for its bold and over-the-top custom rides, has unveiled a high-end sand buggy called simply the Dune. While the company won’t admit it openly, it appears to be based on the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato chassis.
The exterior of the morbidly adventurous supercar has been rebuilt from the ground up using carbon-fiber panels and aero kit. Our personal highlights include massive fender flares, a completely redesigned front fascia and a sleek, futuristic rear end lacking any kind of wing. The arches are occupied by meaty all-terrain tires, and the ground clearance is said to be whopping 154 millimeters (6 inches) higher than that of the Sterrato. Rezvani claims it had to build the suspension from a blank slate and tweak all other systems accordingly for a smooth ride.
Powering the insane coupe is a 5.2-liter supercharged V10 rated at 811 PS (800 hp / 597 kW). That’s roughly 200 horsepower (150 kilowatts) more than the same block produces in the Sterrato. We were unable to find mention of any sprint times, though.
Anyone doubting the origin of the car won’t need to look any further than the cabin to dispel any doubt. It’s basically stock Huracan in there with minimal rebadging going on.
Only seven examples will be made. Those willing to place a preorder are asked to make a refundable advance payment to the tune of $1,500. Sounds like there are still production slots available for those interested.
