BMW integrates Alibaba AI into its China lineup

Alibaba Group isn’t just a worldwide famous exporter of all kinds of goods from China – it is also an IT company developing its own AI solutions, including the large language model known as Quen.

BMW has now announced an intention to integrate Alibaba’s software products into the infotainment systems of its vehicles built for the Chinese domestic market. It never provided a detailed explanation, but we suppose the truth behind the decision is really plain this time around. Foreign automakers – especially German ones – are currently struggling to sell their vehicles in China. Uncompetitive prices and outdated features are threatening their very existence. By embracing the software products that customers in China are used to, they may regain a part of that market.
