Concept Cars
Skoda has released the full technical specification of its Vision iV all-electric SUV scheduled for a Geneva show debut. The car should hit production next year.
The concept vehicle sports the company’s trademark radiator grille and matrix LED-based headlights connected by a LED stripe. Compared to its predecessor – the Vision E Concept – it has no hump on the roof and is generally much more pleasant to look at.
The car is 4,665 mm (15.31 ft.) long, 1,926 mm (6.32 ft.) wide and 1,613 mm (5.29 ft.) tall. As you can see on the photos, it has sensor panels instead of conventional door handles, as well as video cameras in place of side mirrors. Neither of these features will make it into series, though, and those 22-inch wheels will be replaced with smaller ones, too.
Inside, the car houses a dual-spoke steering wheel, a two-tier front fascia, an enormous multimedia display, and seat upholstery made of recycled synthetic materials.
Tech-wise, the Skoda Vision iV comes based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform and packs two electric engines rated at 306 hp / 228 kW (one per axle). It needs 5.9 seconds to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and should be able to travel up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) prior to needing a refill. You can replenish 80 percent of the battery charge within 30 minutes using a high-voltage charging station.
Among other things, the concept car boasts an SAE Level 3 self-drive system based on cameras, radars and laser sensors. It’s going to be a while before we see any of this on the mass market, though.
