VW axes ID.7 for North America
Volkswagen had planned to bring its high-end ID.7 EV to the United States – but no more.
The premium liftback had been scheduled for launch in North America later this year, but changes in the EV market have hurt the demand, especially for premium-priced cars with not a lot of competitive tech on board.
The company’s official explanation is that the ID.7 simply got delayed “to account for the state of the market and the customers’ opinions.” That’s basically admitting that it won’t be able to compete.
