Xiaomi’s still-to-be-announced supercar spotted testing in China

Car News China claims that this photo depicts a particularly powerful Xiaomi EV, rumored to have north of 2,000 PS (1,973 hp / 1,471 kW).

There’s no official confirmation from the manufacturer yet, but the image does feature a very Xiaomi-looking car. The giant oval mono-taillight, the body proportions and the outlines that make us think of the company’s SU7 Ultra sedan are all dead giveaways. There’s also a downright humongous rear wing, of course, which could imply an emphasis on track use.

The media in China believe that the electric supercar will be powered by four motors rated at the 2,000 metric hp mentioned above or even higher. It’s also expected to make use of intelligent per-wheel suspension with active roll stabilization and a steer-by-wire steering mechanism.

What remains to be seen is whether the new Xiaomi is based on the same chassis as the SU7 Ultra sedan. While that’s possible, it is coupe-shaped and may therefore be a production variant of the wild Vision GT Concept shown a few months ago (see in the gallery above and the video). Granted, that would imply a major exterior redesign, but China’s supercar market can get unpredictable at times.
