Haval unveils the Vision 2025 Concept, likely its first EV

Haval still has zero self-driving or all-electric cars in its lineup, but things may change with the introduction of the Vision 2025 Concept, which the carmaker brought to the 2019 Auto Shanghai show yesterday. The year in its name likely corresponds to when we should expect the battery-powered autonomous vehicle to hit the market.

The concept car has cameras instead of side mirrors, gull-wing doors, originally styled wheels and unusual headlights. It is likely based on the same chassis as the Haval F5 mid-size SUV, but sports brand-new bodywork.

The company says nothing about the engine, but goes into quite a bit of detail concerning the on-board tech. For one, the Haval Vision 2025 takes advantage of the so-called AR-HUD, a feature that turns the entire windshield into an interactive touchscreen display, enabling you to draw the route to your destination with your finger. 

Aside from this, the car has a face recognition-based access system and can be found in the city by means of a dedicated mobile app. As for the autopilot feature, Haval has nothing to say about it at the moment.

The interior of the vehicle is full of touchscreen panels that the company claims are protected from accidental clicks. There is not a single hardware control element in view, and you can even switch between gears with a single tap on the dedicated screen.

Other notable features of the prototype include an enormous touch-enabled display facing the driver, a pair of displays in the corners transmitting the video from the rear view cameras, and a rather modest-sized digital dashboard.
