Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, the second vehicle in its Mythos series. Production of this model will be limited to 30 units.
The CLE 646 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers 637 horsepower. This engine is exclusively connected to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. The vehicle is reported to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, reaching 124 mph in 11.4 seconds, with a top speed of 193 mph.
The car features a specially developed steel sprung coilover suspension with four-way adjustable dampers. Braking is handled by ventilated and perforated carbon-ceramic discs, measuring 16.5 inches at the front and 14.2 inches at the rear. The front discs use six-piston fixed calipers, while the rear axle has single-piston floating calipers.
Mercedes-AMG states that the CLE 646 weighs approximately 375 pounds less than a CLE53. This weight reduction is achieved through the use of carbon fiber for various body components, including the front fenders, front end, side sills, hood, roof, and rear bumper. Interior modifications include the removal of rear seats and acoustic insulation, along with a simpler sound system.
