Car Tuning

Check out a salvaged BMW 325i (E30) turned into a paragon of restomodding

CAtuned attended the last year’s SEMA show with an impressive and eye-catching restomod dubbed The Greenmaxhine. The original car was found in poor condition and required a full rebuild. It ended up getting that and much more as this video review tells.

The Bimmer started its life as an E30-generation BMW 325i sedan. Once the exterior was refurbished, it received full M Technik 2 treatment along with a plethora of aftermarket body kit parts – spoilers for both ends, a custom radiator grille, yellow headlights and a DTM-style rear splitter. 17-inch Autostrada Modena wheels slotted into the arches, and adjustable air-ride suspension was installed.

The cabin received a full overhaul in natural leather and fabric. The tuners put Scheel-mann bucket seats in the front row and a bench in the back. A Sony audio system was also added.

The stock M20 six-banger continued its work under the hood, but received forged pistons and connecting rods, a Schrick camshaft and a custom performance exhaust system by Vibrant. This and a displacement volume increase to 3.0L helped with the performance; we don’t know how much exactly the mill churns out, but it has to be more than the stock 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW).

While the project is still ongoing, the 3-Series is already in full road-ready condition and is a joy to listen to. Watch the full 16-minute video for all ins and outs of this truly unique build.
