BMW Updates 7-Series and i7 for 2027

BMW has updated its 7-series and i7 models for 2027, introducing exterior design changes, new interior materials, and technology. The 7-series offers various options for paint colors, interior materials, wheel designs, and drivetrain combinations.

The 2027 design features a blocky front end with a high hood line, a twin-bulge hood, and an available glowing grille surround with crystal headlights. Optional matte and two-tone paints are also available. The side profile is more upright with a character line from front to rear. Wheel options include 20-inch and 21-inch designs. The rear design mirrors the front, with horizontal taillights and hidden tailpipes on the gas model, except for the V-8-powered M760, which will have visible exhaust tips.

Powertrain options for the U.S. market include the rear-wheel-drive 740 with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and 48-volt hybrid assist, producing 394 horsepower. An all-wheel-drive version of the 740 is also available. The 483-hp plug-in hybrid 750e comes standard with xDrive, pairing a turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder with an electric motor. A twin-turbo V-8 will also be offered.

Electric options include the 449-hp i7 50 and the 536-hp i7 60, both featuring a two-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration. The 2027 i7 uses a new battery configuration with cylindrical cells, increasing usable energy capacity from 101.7 to 112.5 kWh, which BMW states will allow for longer range and faster charging. The i7 60 is claimed to provide a range of over 350 miles and can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes on a DC fast-charger.
