The full-size hybrid crossover SUV known as the Geely Galaxy M9 is almost ready for launch, and the company seemingly wants it to steal sales from the competing Aito M9 and Lixiang L9.
According to Sohu quoting the manufacturer, domestic prices will begin from an estimated 250,000 Yuan (approx. 34,800 USD). The Aito M9 starts from a cool 470,000 Yuan (65,400 USD) and the Lixiang L9 doesn’t drop below 400,000 Yuan (55,700 USD). If Geely manages to keep this promise, the Galaxy M9 will become China’s cheapest full-size hybrid SUV on the market. The catch is that we’ll have to wait until late 2025 for the sales to begin, and the price is liable to change.
The current Galaxy lineup comprises almost a dozen different vehicles, and the M9 is its new flagship. It measures 5,205 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,800 mm tall with 3,030 mm of wheelbase. The automaker promises class-leading interior space with 1,317 mm (51.45 inches) from floor to headliner and a doorframe 1,165 mm (45.5 inches) wide. Despite having three seat rows by design, the M9 is strictly a six-seater with only two seats per row.
Unusually for a Chinese carmaker, Geely introduced the Galaxy M9 at a special event in Milan, Italy, rather than China. Back then, it said the SUV would be powered by the NordThor EM-P hybrid system for an average fuel consumption of 4.8 liters per 100 km and a total range of 1,500 km (932 miles). It also claimed that it would sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds.
The SUV was certified with a LiDAR, three radars, 11 cameras, a 30-inch infotainment system and recliner seats in the back row that you can unfold to a maximum angle of 150 degrees.
