The Bugatti Tourbillon is a $4M hybrid hypercar

Bugatti has unveiled its next hypercar, the Tourbillon. It starts from €3.8 million ($4.06 million), but the first deliveries won’t be made until 2026.

The powertrain is based on an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 designed with Cosworth to deliver 1,000 PS (986 hp / 735 kW). Three electric motors mounted two at the front and one at the back supply 250 kW each, with the electric total capped at 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW). A brand-new eight-speed DCT carries the torque to the axles.

An 800V battery pack is modestly sized at 24.8 kilowatt-hours and cannot cover more than 60 km (37 miles) of WLTC range per charge.

On the outside, the car is 4,671 mm (182.5 inches) long, 2,051 mm (80.1 in) wide and 1,189 mm (46.5 in) tall with 2,740 mm (107 in) of wheelbase. The wheels are installed in a staggered fashion – 20” at the front and 21” at the rear. The Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires that they wear have been specifically redesigned for the Tourbillon.

With 1,800 PS (1,775 hp / 1,324 kW) under its command, the coupe reaches the first hundred kilometers per hour in 2 seconds flat. It doubles that acceleration in around 5 seconds, triples it in 10 and quadruples it in 25. The top speed amounts to 445 km/h (276 mph) with the Speed Key upgrade purchased. Drivers who feel that there is such a thing as too much speed may as well leave the limiter at 380 km/h (236 mph).

The production will be restricted to 250 units and involve lots of manual assembly. It will take place in Molsheim, France.
