Stellantis promises to make up with the Italian government

With Stellantis ex-CEO Carlos Tavares gone, the company is looking to re-establish close ties with the government of Italy. According to Adolfo Urso, the country’s Minister of Economic Development, Stellantis’ former boss just “didn’t understand reality.”

The news means that the American automotive corporation will likely normalize its relations with Italy in the near future. The new CEO – who remains to be appointed – will need to ramp up car production and employment in the country to achieve this goal.

In related news, Lancia announced a new crossover SUV named Gamma a few days ago. It is slated to go into production in Italy with all-electric and hybrid powertrain options to choose from. The hybrid variants may end up much more popular given the current market condition, so it’s not hard to see Stellantis investing more in the country to meet the demand.
