Geely shares product plans until 2027

The Chinese automotive giant has disclosed its development strategy for the next three years.

In 2024, Geely shipped 3.32 million vehicles – 21% more than the year before. The target for 2025 is even more ambitious – 2.71 million ICE cars and 1.5 million EVs/hybrids. By 2027, the company plans to reach a combined annual production volume of 5 million units.

As well, Geely seems to be seriously exploring the viability of petrol/methanol bi-fuel cars. The innovative idea is to allow drivers to fill them with methanol gas and regular gasoline for maximum efficiency, then let the electronics decide how to combust the two fuel types in various proportions based on driving speed and other parameters. With 519 methanol fuel stations built in China last year and another 4,000 or so planned for construction until 2027, this may be a viable move.
