A unique Porsche Carrera GT supercar that once belonged to 2009 Formula One winner Jenson Button has recently fetched its seller €820,500 at an online auction.
The car is in superb condition with only 8,556 km (5,316 miles) on the clock since 2004. It sports a Seal Gray paintjob worn by no more than 10% of its entire production batch of 1,270 units. Terracotta-hued leather dominates the interior.
Button lived in Monaco and was a part of the Honda racing team when he purchased the supercar. It remains undisclosed how long he held on to it. The next owner had it imported to Great Britain, and it currently resides in the Netherlands.
The Carrera GT was Porsche’s flagship back at the time, and Walter Röhrl drove it to a new record at the Nürburgring. The 5.7-liter V10 rated at 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) had originally been intended for Formula One uses, but was later modified for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and ultimately converted into a street-legal monster.
Mated to a six-speed stick shift, the ten-banger took the coupe 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and maxed out at 330 km/h (205 mph).
