Porsche recalls hundreds of thousands of cars over backup camera issues

U.S.-based owners of Porsche Cayenne SUVs dated 2019 and newer, including E-Hybrid models, as well those driving the latest 911, Taycan or Panamera E-Hybrid are advised to visit their nearest authorized dealership for an important reversing camera fix.

Porsche estimates that the issue affects a total of 173,538 vehicles in North America.  The image on the display may disappear due to faulty software, leading to potential collisions while reversing. The fix reportedly doesn’t require any hardware modifications, so should be installed in minutes.

This is the Stuttgart automaker’s second biggest recall campaign over the past several years. Back in 2022, Porsche had to recall over 222,000 cars over a dangerous headlight defect.
