SCG 007 LMH spins off a street-legal version

Sсuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, a U.S.-based sports car maker headed by entrepreneur James Glickenhaus, has unveiled the SCG 007S, a hypercar for the streets.

The vehicle is based on the same chassis and tech as the SCG 007 LMH prototype racer that the Glickenhaus Racing team took to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and other endurance races in 2021–2023. It debuted at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este this week, wearing a sophisticated aerodynamic kit and racing-grade suspension with pushrods and adjustable sway bars. As the company highlighted during the reveal, it’s still mainly a track weapon, even if one that’s okay to drive on the road.

The three-seat interior features a central driver’s seat, like in the McLaren F1 or SCG 004. Air conditioner is listed under options.

Powertrain is the one aspect that got completely overhauled for the SCG 007S. As you may know, the FIA regulations for LMH racing category (stands for “Le Mans Hypercar”) require that the engine output stays capped at 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW). The particular engine configuration is up for the team to choose. Glickenhaus Racing went with a 3.5-liter turbocharged V8 built by Pipo Moteurs for their SCG 007 LMH racer.

In turn, the street-legal version ended up with a 6.2-liter twin-turbo V8 tuned to deliver 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque exclusively to the rear wheels via a seven-speed transmission. There are no acceleration figures yet, but with a curb weight of 1,550 kilos (3,417 lbs), it should be blazing fast.
