Video: Ford builds a bespoke Ranger Raptor for Santa Claus

Ford Australia has started its Christmas preparations early, but only because it had a vehicle to deliver to a very important person.

In the short video, Santa Claus himself hires the company to build him a particularly fast and utilitarian pickup. Commissions like this are against the automaker’s guidelines, but no one wants to end up on the naughty list, so the order is accepted. An American secret service going by ELF (the Experimental Laboratory Foundation) joins in on the project led by Kirby Masterman.

The result is called the Ford Ranger Raptor North Edition. It’s a daily driver first and foremost, because Santa apparently still prefers the sleigh for his Christmas Eve antics. The doors are welded shut, but there’s an opening in the roof for the chimney infiltrator extraordinaire. Gingerbread ornaments cover the steering wheel and the dash, and there is an oven in the glove compartment to make more at a moment’s notice. Last but not least, there is a barbecue grille built into the drop gate.

According to Ford Australia, the truck comes with retractable wings to let it rise to an altitude of 18 kilometers (11 miles) and can use rocket boosters to attain a peak acceleration of 4.6 million kilometers per hour, or 2,858306 mph – enough to fly over the entire world in a night. Rounding off the list is an infinite-capacity bed for presents.
