Tesla sales down 13% worldwide

Elon Musk’s electric car company has found 13% fewer buyers for its vehicles in Q1 2025 compared to the same quarter the year before.

Total new Tesla vehicle registrations amounted to 362,615 units in January–March this year. As many observers will agree, Musk’s controversial political views and involvement may have played a role in this.

On the other hand, the slump is quite in line with the overall decline of the EV market. For example, Rivian – a markedly apolitical EV maker – has seen a 36% sales plunge in Q1, moving only 8,640 units. Put into a perspective, Tesla’s performance remains decent despite the recent protests and boycotts.
