2020 VW California exterior & cabin revealed

The refreshed Volkswagen California van won’t premiere until the end of August, but in the meantime, the company wants us to take a closer look at its body and cabin.

Exterior stylistic changes are mainly identical to those that the Transporter and the Multivan received with their own update to version 6.1. This includes the larger radiator grille, the redesigned headlights and the different from apron.

As for the cabin, the facelift brings along a new control interface for various on-board systems, living area improvements, and better sun screening for the roof tent.

Other notable features include dual USB charger ports, reworked ambient lighting, aluminum door handles, and a wardrobe at the rear end fitted with sliding doors instead of lifting shutters. Coast and Ocean trims ship with additional tableware sets.

The driver’s cockpit features a fully digital dashboard,  an updated infotainment system with web apps, and a colorful LED-based touchscreen display on the ceiling. Driver aids include lane control, parking assist, trailer assist, and side wind assist.

Powering the van is a two-liter diesel engine connected to a 7-G DCT and AWD (optional).
