Volkswagen ID. Evo reaches production in China

The Volkswagen-Anhui joint venture that the German company is running with JAC Group in China has announced a new EV. It still doesn’t have a proper model name, but the assembly lines are already running.

The SUV is temporarily known as “MM01”. It is based on the company’s ID. Evo Concept introduced at the Auto Shanghai show in April (see the gallery and the video). Volkswagen claims that the changes from the concept are minimal. In its production form, the electric utility vehicle will benefit from fast-charging 800V internals and regular over-the-air updates to its numerous electronic systems.

A proper premiere should take place in a few months.
