Skoda Superb gets a new off-road version called Scout

Skoda continues to maintain a high degree of suspense around its facelifted Superb series. The company just released a new teaser video showing two other modifications of the car, the cross-country-capable Scout and the luxury-trimmed Laurin & Klement.

Once the new Superb hits the dealerships, you will be able to buy in it estate/wagon and liftback versions. Both now feature LED Matrix headlights, LED-based anti-fog lights, dynamic turn blinkers, and the Coming/Leaving Home feature that turns on all lights when you mess around with locks.

The facelift also brings along a new radiator grille design, as well more aggressively styled bumpers. Moving on into the cabin, there is a new dashboard and an enormous multimedia screen.

Rumor has it that the series will ship with a 1.5-liter turbo V4 with partial cylinder deactivation (i.e., variable displacement). In Europe, the cars will allegedly be available with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.4-liter gas engine and an electric motor, rated at 220 hp (164 kW) and promising up to 55 km (34 miles) of all-electric range. Then again, these are merely rumors.

The Skoda Superb will celebrate its international premiere at the International Hockey Championship in Slovakia on May 23, 2019.
