Tesla invites other carmakers to license its FSD tech

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has officially confirmed that the company is willing to provide its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology for third parties to use – not free of charge, of course.

He first hinted at such a possibility in June last year, but it looks like none of the third parties have shown any interest in it. This actually makes sense if you consider how important semi-autonomous driving features are in a modern car. Although far from perfect, they have become the standard of the age and are not going anywhere anytime soon. Thus, it makes long-term sense to develop your own software in the house instead of investing in third-party solutions.

Speaking about the FSD, Musk also said he would definitely license the technology if he were a CEO of another car brand. Guess we’ll see how many automakers take his word for that.
