Audi unveils facelifted 2020 A4 range

Audi has held a presentation dedicated to the mid-generational refresh of its A4 series. The range of the update encompasses the following car types: sedan/saloon, estate/wagon, and crossover/SUV (the A4 Allroad).

Compared to the pre-facelift iteration, the new series sports redesigned bumpers (both front and rear), differently sculpted fenders, new radiator grilles, and doors with a lower waistline. The grille design is now dependent on your chosen configuration of the car. The standard trim sports horizontal fins, the S/S-line versions get honeycomb pattern, and the SUV gets vertical chromed fins.

All Audi A4s come equipped with new micro-hybrid engines drawing their power from a dedicated traction battery and the car’s own electrical system. They assist the main engine by lending it extra horsepower and improving fuel efficiency. The battery also powers the numerous on-board electronic systems and driver aids.

The entry-level 1.4-liter gasoline engine is no longer on offer, replaced by a range of four-cylinder diesels rated between 136 hp (100 kW) and 163 hp (122 kW). Down below, there is also a four-cylinder turbo gas engine pushing out 150 hp (112 kW). More expensive configurations include the 40 TDI (190 hp / 142 kW) and the 45 TFSI (249 hp / 186 kW). The range-topping A4 S5 packs a turbo-six diesel with 347 hp (259 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb×ft) of torque at its disposal.

The on-board tech now includes a high-end infotainment system with a large 10.1-inch display. As usual, the car offers a plethora of useful services, including satellite navigation with real-time traffic congestion data that can help you catch that ‘green wave’.
