Licensed Batmobile replica heads to auction

This 1989 Batmobile imitation has a functional drivetrain with a V8 and should be a hoot to drive.

Made by Hollywood Productions for a Batman movie, it ultimately ended up redundant and didn’t get any screen time. Despite this, Warner Bros issued a formal “Batmobile” license for it, which should be of interest to all collectors and fans out there.

Like its movie-starring counterparts, this car was built on a stretched Chevrolet Impala chassis. As such, it commands a pretty powerful V8 and an automatic transmission. The air intake at the front end puts us in the mid of the British Harrier jet fighter.
