GM ramps up production mid-crisis

While many other automakers are panicking over tariffs, General Motors is hiring 250 new employees into its Indiana industrial complex.

The factory produces the latest Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, among other things. The company says it will pause all production on April 22–25, but only so that new equipment could be installed and manufacturing processes streamlined.

Considering how much GM depends on automobile parts manufactured in Canada and Mexico, it makes good sense for the company to ramp up domestic production as soon as possible. It should help minimize the effects of the import tariffs enacted by Donald Trump and keep prices manageable.
