Mini gives up, admits it won’t be retiring ICE cars after all

Michael Peyton, VP of the Mini brand in North America, has let it slip that the company no longer plans to retire cars with internal combustion engines (ICE).

Mini’s previous plans included the electrification of its entire vehicle lineup. However, with the EV market in a tough position – especially in the United States – the British company decided to resume ICE car production.

Moving forward, Mini plans to develop its EV portfolio, but at no expense of its traditional car lineup. There will be no strict “quotas” or “electrification goals” to meet in the next few years.
