Geely and Baidu team up on a super-EV for 2027

Jiyue, a car brand co-founded between Baidu and Geely in China, has attended the Guangzhou Motor Show with a prototype supercar named the Robo X. It has a sub-1.9-second sprint time and is already available to preorder, but deliveries won’t begin until 2027.

At 4,650 x 2,000 x 1,195 millimeters large with 2,700 mm between the axles, the newcomer is barely larger than one of its upcoming rivals, the GAC Aion SSR Coupe. A carbon/aluminum monocoque cabin enables it to weigh as little as 1,850 kilograms (4,079 lbs). Once fully charged, Jiyue claims it can cover around 650 kilometers (405 miles) before running out of juice.

According to the company, it deliberately went for a rather eye-catching and aggressive exterior design hoping that the competitors would take note of it and try to imitate it. The Robo X is also claimed to be the world’s first supercar with a Level 4 self-driving system on board, provided by Baidu’s Apollo. We are told that the electronic systems are advanced enough to speed the car through a racetrack (omitting the obvious question of why anyone would ever want that).

Customers are invited to leave a 49,999 Chinese Yuan deposit if they want to be the first in line to get their Robo X.
