Honda Civic again becomes the U.S. Car of the Year

Honda’s Civic has once again won the North American Car of the Year award. It is now the most awarded model in history with four NACTOY prizes on the shelf.

To be more specific, the gold award went to the 11th-generation Civic Hybrid. Earlier iterations of the same model won in 2006, 2016 and 2022.

As successful as the Civic is in the United States, it is far from Honda’s only winner on the list. For example, the Ridgeline pickup won the prize in 2006 and 2017, while the Accord sedan claimed gold in 2018. Considering that the NACTOY award has only been around since 1994, Honda can be safely called one of the best-performing brands at it.

In a press release dedicated to this year’s award, the company pointed out that the Civic is Honda’s most popular car on record and one of the best-selling light passenger vehicles in North America over the past 52 years. More than 15,000,000 Civics have found buyers in the US and Canada since 1973.

The second and third places went to the Kia K4 and the Toyota Camry, respectively. In the SUV department, Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. Buzz minivan came ahead of the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Chevrolet Equinox. The truck segment saw Ford Ranger win against Ram 1500 and Toyota Tacoma.
