Maextro S800 drops cover in China

Maextro, a new luxury car brand co-founded between Huawei and JAC, has unveiled its first production model – the S800. You can already preorder it with a 20,000-Yuan deposit, but the final price may lie within the range of 1–1.5 million Yuan, AutoHome.cn warns.

The saloon is downright huge by Chinese standards at 5,480 mm (214 inches) long, 2,000 mm (78.1 inches) wide and 1,536 mm (60 inches) tall. It also has a generous wheelbase spanning 3,370 mm (131.7 inches) and resembles a fastback. The front fascia looks unique with chrome details around the front air intake mesh and three-tier headlights.

Maextro uses plenty of flashy LED accents all around. Aside from the headlights and the trunk lid, they can be found in unexpected places, like the door handles. The rear doors are much wider than the front ones, probably so as to emphasize how spacious the interior is.

From the technical perspective, the car runs on the Tuling platform designed by JAC and Huawei. Its exact specs remain to be revealed, but we are told it comes loaded with all kinds of intelligent driving aids for a class-leading experience in unassisted self-driving.
