Bentley Bentayga gets a tattoo-inspired finish

Bentley has attended the Miami Art Week with its latest individualization effort: a Bentayga SUV co-designed with Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy, sometimes called the world’s most renowned tattoo artist.

As you could guess, the biggest feature of the car comes in the form of a special paintjob applied in a manner similar to tattoo ink. According to McCurdy, it is called “Magic Ink” and represents a special pigment that shows up in certain light wavelengths. Since you can’t use a needle to fill metal with ink, Bentley instead prints the designs on a special wrap that gets stretched over the body of the car later.

The result is a vehicle that looks almost normal under standard lighting conditions, but turns into something entirely different under UV light. Bentley Mulliner and Keith McCurdy say it reflects the respective values of the British automaker’s two model lineups – Speed (performance) and Azure (comfort).

Looking into the future, Bentley hopes to make the feature available for everyone interested. The next concept car previewing a new evolutionary stage of Magic Ink is slated to debut in 2025.
