Interested in a crashed McLaren Senna at 1.5x new price?

A heavily damaged McLaren Senna has cropped up at an auction in the USA. The asking price is eye-watering at $1,625,000, but the bidding has yet to move past $539,000.

Back when it debuted in late 2017, the Senna started from £750,000 on its domestic market (see video). It was roughly equivalent to a million USD. In modern terms, it’s closer to $936,000 – of course, if you can find one for the MSRP.

Based on the photos, the front bumper looks crumpled, the front right fender and headlight are missing, but the rest of the carbon-fiber body looks just about fine. It is quite the eye-catcher, too, with its accents of silver and red. The cabin continues the bi-color theme with a matching trim, and the mileage counter reads 4,343 miles (just under 7,000 kilometers).

The 4.0-liter V8 is undamaged, the listing claims. It should still be good to output its original 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft). When new, the Senna could sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and eventually hit 325 km/h (202 mph).

Only 500 units were made, partially explaining why this crashed example is so expensive. All 500 had been sold out before the official announcement of the car, too, so they are probably highly sought after by collectors these days.
