Rare Ford Maverick show truck crops up on sale

Ford brought as many as 40 different Maverick concepts to the SEMA show three years ago. The example seen here was also a SEMA build, but it was created independently by the Leif Johnson Ford dealership with support from Saleen.

The compact truck was scanned in 3D to determine the best aero kit configuration. It ended up with a custom-fabricated front end with a splitter, rocker panels, fender flares, a rear bumper and a tailgate spoiler. Air-ride suspension helped it assume a much sportier stance than was possible in stock form.

Four large-diameter audio speakers from JBL made their way into the bed along with a kilowatt-strong amplifier. The pink audio bar rides on power-assisted rails, which means you can retract it when not in use and free up some extra bed space. Too bad it’s not seen in the photos here.

The powertrain is stock, which in this case means a 2.0-liter EcoBoost mill churning out 253 PS (250 hp / 187 kW) and 375 Nm (277 lb-ft) of torque. With only 4,464 km (2,774 miles) under its belt, it’s virtually new.

Tuned or not, SEMA project cars tend to land on the pricey side, and this one is not an exception. It’s currently listed for sale for $57,458. The latest city-friendly version of the pickup, called the Maverick Lobo, can be obtained close to $35,000.
