Toyota unveils the Urban Cruiser EV for Europe

Toyota’s Urban Cruiser for the Old Continent is an all-electric compact crossover sending up to 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) to the wheels. It’s still unclear when it may go on sale, but in the meantime, here are all the specifications.

The vehicle is 4,285 mm (167.4 inches) long, 1,800 mm (70.3 in) wide and 1,640 mm (64 in) tall with 2.7 meters (105.5 in) between the axles. Wheels can be either 18 or 19 inches large.

The exterior styling resembles that of the Urban SUV Concept, but the shape is closer to Toyota’s other recent design, the Suzuki e-Vitara. The same rings true for the cabin, which looks almost identical to the e-Vitara interior aside from minor details.

Customers in Europe can look forwards to an infotainment system based on displays 10.1 and 10.25 inches large, satellite navigation, surround view cameras, JBL audio, a sun hatch, 12 ambient lighting colors, and adjustable rear seats.

Budget-conscious buyers will settle for a single-motor FWD spec rated at 144 PS (142 hp / 106 kW) and 189 Nm (139 lb-ft) of torque. It comes with a 49-kWh LiFePo4 battery pack, but the range is not specified.

Those who would like more thrust from the motor may get a 174-PS (172-hp / 128-kW) version with a 61-kWh battery. Finally, those in the market for an AWD Urban Cruiser will have to settle for the 184-PS version mentioned at the beginning. It makes 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque.

Like its Suzuki twin, the Toyota crossover gets imitated interaxle diff locks in the AWD version. They are activated in Trail Mode and automatically apply brakes to all skidding wheels. In turn, the FWD versions get a dedicated drive mode for slippery surfaces.
