Geely axes Jiyue brand

The Jiyue vehicle brand co-founded in 2023 between Geely and Baidu in China is being dissolved now.

News emerged last month that Jiyue workers were being dismissed without any reasons specified by the company. The situation cleared up this week when all employees received a formal letter with a severance agreement. According to it, all corporate equipment is to be handed in before January 16th, and all financial settlements are to be carried out until October 20th, 2025.

With the Jiyue brand disbanded, the company will continue to run a number of service stations to fix and maintain its existing EV fleet. This includes just two models – an SUV called the Jiyue 01 and a liftback known as the Jiyue 07. Both have been around for a year and a half or so, and neither has sold well.
