Rare, tastefully tuned BMW M3 sells for $30k

Many will agree that the E92 generation of the BMW M3 was unique. It’s not just about the looks, either – it was the only one that shipped with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 under the hood. No wonder even high-mileage examples still fetch good prices these days.

This red example was slightly customized by its original owner. Additions included 19-inch HRE Performance rims, Eibach suspension springs and an engine tune. A new intake, a performance exhaust system and a software tune helped raise the output past the stock 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The listing didn’t mention by how much, though.

A peek inside reveals moderately worn leather on the seats and around 140,000 km (87,000 miles) on the odometer. The car comes with documents confirming regular maintenance, so it should be fine despite the respectable mileage. Adding to its value is six-speed manual transmission – many examples of the 2009 BMW M3 shipped with a seven-speed DCT.

Cars&Bids sold this one for U.S. $30,000 yesterday.
