Geely is getting ready to debut its biggest SUV so far, introduced as the Galaxy Starship at Auto Beijing last spring (see video). Sales won’t begin until later into the year, but in the meantime, you can check out its cabin snapshots provided by CarNewsChina.
Just as the company promised, the new flagship crossover is over 5 meters (16.4 feet) long. It looks like the trim version pictured below is the most expensive one – note the deluxe individual seats in the back row. The tailgate also looks like it has a drop-down lower section for ease of access.
The other pic reveals a steering wheel looking similar to that of the rest of the Galaxy lineup, a stacked center console and a giant infotainment display spanning all the way to the front passenger’s seat.
Geely promises us numerous modern tech gimmicks ranging from smart chassis settings to AI-governed audio system and front seats. Just how these features are implemented and how exactly they work remains a mystery at this time. Back when it debuted, the Starship Concept featured a detachable driver’s seat mounted on its own mobile platform – you could get it out of the car and ride it as an accessibility chair.
Another thing that remains uncertain is what the production SUV will be called. Rumors suggest it will be known as “Galaxy Starship 9”. What we do know is that it will make use of the company’s latest GEA architecture and take advantage of its NordThor EM-I hybrid powertrain, known for its exceptional fuel and power efficiency.
