2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR facelift sprints faster than before

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR has long been the most powerful vehicle in its class, but not the fastest one. The latest facelift partially fixes that.

The car still gets 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) out of its 5.0-liter supercharged V8, but raises the torque from 680 to 700 Nm (502 – 516 lb-ft, respectively). It also gets a revised front bumper with larger air intakes and new aerodynamic parts that improve engine and brake cooling while lowering the drag ratio from 0.37 to 0.36.

The F-Pace now needs four seconds flat to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) instead of the usual 4.3 seconds, thus pulling ahead of the BMW X3 M and going on par with the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4Matic. The GLC 63 S 4Matic+ and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV continue to stay unbeaten. The top speed rises from 283 to 286 km/h (175.8 – 177.7 mph).

The old eight-speed automatic transmission now makes use of the hydraulic torque converter of the extreme Jaguar XE SV Project 8. Brakes, adaptive shocks, active rear differential and power steering mechanism enjoy various tweaks, and the front axle upward force drops by 35%.

Emissions and fuel efficiency have also been improved: the car now consumes 12.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km covered, which corresponds to 23 miles per gallon in the UK or 19.2 MPG in the United States. It also produces 275 grams of CO2 instead of 281.

Novelty inside boils down to a new steering wheel, front fascia, center tunnel and door cards. The touch-enabled display is 48% larger than before (now 11.4 inches across), the GUI is more up-to-date, and the Pivi Pro infotainment system supports OTA updates. The 12.3-inch digital dash cluster also looks slightly retouched, and the manufacturer reports improved noise insulation and air filtering.

Sales in Great Britain have already begun from £77,595. To put things into perspective, you could buy a GLC 63 4Matic for £72,325, a Stelvio QV for £73,195 or an X3 M for £80,225.
