2,800-HP Chevrolet Chevelle takes things to new extremes

The annual SEMA tuning show provides a great opportunity for tuners worldwide to make themselves known. One of this year’s highlights is Blazin Rodz, a U.S.-based shop working on a crazy hypercar with a Chevy Chevelle aesthetic.

While still nominally a restomod, the car is almost all new. The chassis comes from renowned designer Art Morrison, the suspension relies on top-grade modern components machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, and while the body seems to be original, the extreme aero kit is new. Some parts are machined, others are fabricated by hand, and others still are 3D-printed – where appropriate, of course.

The car is still a work in progress, but once it is complete, Blazin Rods expects it to slam the asphalt with some 2,840 PS (2,800 hp / 2,090 kW). This is supposed to happen with the help of an 8.8-liter Brodix V8 outfitted with dual Precision 8385 Next Gen turbos and a couple of 10-GPM Aeromotive Brushless fuel pumps. The new engine is mounted 384 mm (15 inches) closer to the middle of the chassis, which should translate into better handling once the “Doughboy” is ready to rumble.

The interior gives off a Spartan vibe, housing little besides a roll cage, an Audi R8 steering wheel and a MoTeC C1812 12-inch digital dash.
