Audi SQ2 gets five boost kits at once

The Audi SQ2 is hardly a crowd favorite, whether among customers or tuners, so when ABT Sportsline managed to boost it from 300 to 350 horsepower (224 to 261 kilowatts), we thought it could end there and then. We were hugely mistaken!

MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) has launched as many as five different turbo kits for the unpopular SUV. The very first one raises the output to the abovementioned 350 hp / 261 kW mark, and the remaining four upgrade stages are rated at 360, 381, 433, and 480 horsepower (268, 284, 323, and 358 kilowatts, respectively). Naturally, we would be most interested in the latter.

The MTM Turbokit Stage 5 involves replacing the intercooler and the entire exhaust system, adding a high-pressure fuel pump, and reworking the turbochargers in several ways (such as increasing turbine diameters, chamber volumes, and dimensions of the housings). Minor improvements are due for the air intake tract and the dual-clutch coupling.

Once maxed out, the MTM Audi SQ2 blazes past 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds, which is a whopping second and a half faster than the stock car can do. Hitting 200 km/h occurs in 12.2 s (stock: 19.0 s), and the top speed is now capped at 280 km/h (174 mph).

Bad news: the Stage 5 is not street-legal. On the other hand, the MTM Turbokit Stage 4 is, and it still delivers a healthy 433 hp (323 kW) along with 540 Nm (400 pound-feet) of torque.
