Mercedes-Benz teases a next-gen minivan EV

The German automaker plans to phase out the EQV and eVito with just one model promising superior performance and comfort.

The main downside of the company’s current electric minivans is that they are heavily based on the traditional fuel-powered V-Class and Vito models. In contrast, the still-unnamed new model rides on a dedicated EV platform known as the Van.EA. It was developed specifically for light vans and minibuses, and should be a better fit in most respects.

The premiere is expected next spring, but the mass production likely won’t start until 2026. The company said earlier that it planned to keep the ICE minivans alive as well, selling them alongside their EV alternative.
