Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 certified as the fastest ‘Vette in history

After announcing its 1,050-horsepower Corvette ZR1 back in July, Corvette has stayed silent about the car – until now, that is. Apparently, it goes 0-60 mph (0-96.6 km/h) in 2.3 seconds, making it the fastest mass-produced Corvette model ever.

The new ZR1 also completes a quarter-mile run in 9.6 seconds and hits 241 km/h (150 mph) towards the end. To do so, it needs an optional package called ZTK Performance. It includes an aerodynamic kit, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, and stiffer springs for the suspension. The body kit provides an additional 550 kilos (~1,210 lbs) of downforce at the peak acceleration of 375 km/h (233 mph).

Remove the ZTK package, and the ZR1 goes up to 2.5 seconds sprint time and 9.7 seconds on the quarter-mile strip (exiting speed: 245 km/h, or 152 mph).

Chevrolet emphasizes that all tests were conducted on standard, not specially prepared surfaces. This means that most ZR1 owners will be able to reproduce these results without the need to look for proper conditions first.

Prices are pending, but rumors indicate you won’t be able to buy the base spec at any less than $120,000. The first production car with VIN 001 will be auctioned off in the United States on January 25, and the company expects to fetch around $4 million for it.
