GAC Trumpchi S7 arrives in China

Chinese automaker GAC has started domestic sales of its Trumpchi S7 SUV. Customers are choosing from five trim levels and FWD/AWD drivetrains. Prices range from 209,800 to 249,800 Yuan.

The newcomer is 4,900 mm (191.4”) long, 1,950 mm (76.2”) wide and 1,780 mm (69.5”) tall with 2,880 mm (112.5”) between the axles. The wheels are 20 inches large by default, and the trunk offers 720 liters (25.43 cubic feet) of luggage space. Fold down the seats, and you’ll get 2,050 liters (72.4 cu. ft.).

The company points out smart headlights that you can program to display custom animated images. The rear end has a charge level indicator, and those looking for advanced ADAS features may opt for a roof-mounted LiDAR. It feeds data to a proprietary self-driving system developed by GAC along with 11 cameras and lots of radars. The number of radars varies depending on your chosen trim, the company says, and hitting the max count gives you L2++ autonomy. This means the car doesn’t need to rely on highly detailed maps and can park itself nicely even in tight spots.

Going with the base trim level gives you a leather interior, an 8.88-inch digital dashboard, a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 27-inch HUD and a 17.3-inch rear display mounted at the ceiling. Seat heating, ventilation and massage functions are available free of charge, and a two-zone climate control system is included as well. The same goes for a couple of charging pads and a 23-channel audio system with a pop-up speaker built into the dash.
